the 500 mag is a lot of gun man. my cousins husband bought one, he waited 6 months to shoot it because it scared him lol. the 357 will do ya best. cheap to play with and a ton of power when you need it.
I bought a High Point 45 ACP just for grins a few years ago. It's not a refined handgun like a Browning, Smith&Wesson or other quality pistol. However, for just plinking, close quarters home defense, I've had not trouble with it.
A quick inspection shows multiple flaws in the frame, nothing that would compromise the frame, just places where it should have been buffed smoother. General fit of the parts is pretty good, slide was a bit tight, easily fixed.
I've shot full mags as fast as I could pull the trigger and never jammed. The Browning 9mm my dad used to have, jammed about every 3rd magazine.
For serious shooting, I have several other hand guns and rifle's but the High Point does me fine for just messing around.
I don't have any direct experience with the Hi-Point. What I have seen of them is they look cheap. My current inventory is a .45 XD, a Model 23 Glock .40, and a S&W Model 29 with 6 " barrel. I tend to like the semi autos that do not have a thumb safety. For defense they are as simple to shoot as a revolver, as long as you start with one in the chamber.
If you want a cheap gun that'll shoot straight and will consider foreign, I suggest a CZ-50. It's a .32 caliber Czech military handgun. I gave one to my wife and she loves it. Now if you want a more powerful cheap gun, there's the CZ-52. It takes 7.62 X 25 ammo which you can purchase (FMJ) by the can for cheap. If corrosive, clean out the barrel after shooting. I have a CZ-52 and it's a beast. It's a straight shooter, but a high power handgun and will bark louder than most rifles. Both are considered Curio & Relic handguns because of their model age.
oreo ya i know thats alot of gun lol i just think it would be alot of fun lol i love shooting anything and everything but ya i liike the 357 av shot a couple and ii like the way they shoot the 38 would be great to go out bunny thumpin with and 357 for out hunting
im not to sure bout semi autos i think they would be great for firing at somethin comin at me and stuff like that but my itchy trigger finger i think that i would fly through ammo lol ( gotta love bein redneck)
double action revolver you just pull the trigger as well, single action you have to pull the hammer back before you can shoot. and once you start shooting, your gonna burn though rounds anyways lol. www.cheaperthendirt.com go there for your ammo. you can usually get once fired brass for pretty good prices. use that for your target practice.
