I'm having my truck worked on and it could possibly need a new PCM. Either way, the guys at the shop said they may take it by the Ford dealership once they get it running and have the "strategy" updated. The reason I phrase it like that is because he said that it won't actually update the strategy it will just do something that will keep the glow plugs on longer so it will help with cold start issues I'm having. Maybe I heard him wrong or misunderstood, but anyways, does this sound right or possible? I'm not questioning whether the guy was just feeding me a line, I'm just wondering if anybody may know what exactly he's talking about and could clarify. I'm just kinda curious because from the way he explained it, if he does it I will still be able to load my tunes back as it won't effect my strategy.
If they replace the PCM, will that change my strategy?
I am pretty sure they will load the most recent strategy. Only you can say what strategy you had.
Yeah he made sure I put it back to stock. But I think I had the original early '03 strategy. Is a strategy unique to each truck or can 2 trucks have the same strategy?
