Will the Ford GT Race Car Be Announced Friday?
The Ford GT was originally built for one purpose, and that was to kick the snot out of Ferrari at the race track. It was quite successful. With the new Ford GT announced back in January, it was assumed that it would also be hitting the racetrack. But with production numbers capped so low, we weren’t sure if there’d be enough for homologation. Now, it seems that we will see a Ford GT racecar, and we’ll see it this Friday.
Ford tweeted yesterday that there’d be a live stream of an announcement this Friday at 9:00 AM EDT. According to our friends at Jalopnik, that announcement is happening at Le Mans. In addition, Bill Ford Jr. is the official starter of this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Rumors are that Chip Ganassi Racing will run two cars in the Tudor series and another team will run two cars in the World Endurance Series. Four racing Ford GTs sounds like a pretty good plan to us.
We’ll follow up this Friday after the official press conference and announcement, and hopefully some stunning pictures of Ford’s latest racecar. We can barely contain our excitement!
