This Twin Turbo 5.0 F-150 is the EcoBoost You Want
While the debate over Ford’s wildly successful EcoBoost V6 rages on, there’s one thing that I think everyone can agree on – we need a twin turbo version of the 5.0 Coyote V8 as well. Turbo’d V8s are truly the best of both worlds, as the motor’s massive torque helps overcome turbo lag and fill out the power band.
Unfortunately, Ford doesn’t currently produce such a beast, and probably won’t anytime soon. But that doesn’t mean you can’t, and the results of such a conversion are absolutely stunning. What you see here is nothing short of a beast living inside a stock looking, innocuous F-150. With the turbos and a tune, this beast pumps out a ridiculous 948 horsepower and 729 lb-ft of torque at the rear wheels.
We get to see this extreme F-Series tooling down the road, with a little bit of a demonstration of what it’s capable of. The best part of the whole experience are the otherworldly noises coming from that beastly Coyote, noises that are sure to also attract some unwanted attention from the local municipality.
If you’re in traffic, however, they’re going to have a hard time figuring out that those race car-esque sounds are coming from a stock looking truck. Unless you decide to turn off the traction control and destroy the rear tires, as we get to see at the conclusion of this video.
If you decide to lay down the cash for a truck like this, there’s a zero percent chance you won’t want to challenge every car you pull up next to at a stoplight. The expression on their faces when you annihilate them in such an unassuming truck is impossible to put a price on, unless you count the cost of replacing your rear tires every few days.
