Recalls Are Job 1: Do NOT Drive Super Duty Order, Plus Over 500K Other Fords Recalled

Super Duty Recalls

Recalls just this week include the Super Duty, Explorer, and Aviator, with the Mach-E and Bronco recalled twice.

Last week,  we listed the best & worst parts of the Ford Super Duty ownership experience. One of the worst parts that we listed was Ford quality control. As if to prove our point, Ford issued a slew of recalls this week for the Super Duty and four other models. The total recall population includes over half a million vehicles. And some of these recalls are extremely serious. In the case of the 2025 Super Duty, a Do Not Drive order has been issued for 2,345 trucks because of the risk of brake failure.

Also recalled this week were 304,662 2025 model year Ford Explorer/Lincoln Aviator SUVs due to a second-row seat that can move unexpectedly. The 2025 Ford Bronco was recalled twice this week. 2,272 due to air bags that may fail to deploy, and 27,768 due to faulty child safety locks. The Mach-E was also recalled twice this week. The 276 of the 2025 models because the vehicle may roll despite being in park. And 197,432 of the 2021-2025 models because occupants may become trapped inside the vehicle. According to Consumer Shield Ford has 69 recalls issued this year, and that is only up through June 2. They are now well into the 70s. Far more than any other manufacturer. That is more than VW, GM, Mercedes-Benz, Chrysler, and Honda COMBINED.

2025 Super Duty Recall

The issue impacts Super Duty trucks built from March 19 though May 4 of this year. The brake pedal assembly may have been built without a retaining spring. According to the recall report, “The brake booster pushrod may disconnect from the brake pedal. This can result in a loss of braking function while driving, increasing the risk of a crash.” That is serious enough for owners to be told not to drive the trucks covered by this recall. Ford is not aware of any crashes or injuries related to this recall. They will inspect and repair the trucks at no charge to the customer.

 2025 Ford Explorer/Lincoln Aviator Recall

Explorer ST

This recall is due to a second-row seat easy entry seat fold switch bezel that may have been incorrectly installed. According to the recall report “It is possible that the easy entry seat fold switch on second row outboard seats may intermittently bind or become stuck in the down position. This binding or sticking may result in the seat unlatching, folding, and/or sliding unexpectedly, potentially while driving.” The fix for this is not expected to be available until the end of August.

Bronco Recalls

Bronco

2,272 Broncos were recalled because “The active vent flap of the passenger airbag may not open during a crash that deploys the passenger airbag.” Owners are expected to be notified between July 28 – July 31. Ford will replace the faulty airbag module at no cost to the owner. 27,768 four-door Broncos were recalled because “The left-hand rear door may be opened from the inside of the vehicle, despite indication of the child safety lock in the ‘ON’ position.” Ford will remedy this by installing a new left-hand rear door latch assembly.

Mach-E Recalls

Mach-E

276 2025 Mach-Es are recalled due to an issue with the park rod. Affected vehicles may have a transmission that is not capable of locking into Park and could roll unexpectedly. 197,432 2021-2025 Mach-Es were recalled because if the 12V battery discharges below a certain level the doors will remain locked when they are re-closed if the e-latches were locked at the time of 12V battery discharge. The result of that is “An occupant who remains inside a locked vehicle and unable to use an inside door release handle may be unable to be rapidly retrieved by a passenger who has exited the vehicle.” Think of a child trapped in the back seat on a hot day.

All The Recalls

All of these recalls are not a good look for Ford. We are only halfway through the year, and the 2025 Explorer has been recalled ten times already. The 2025 Bronco has eight recalls against it. The list goes on and on. We love the current lineup of Ford vehicles. However, all of these quality issues would make even the biggest Ford fan apprehensive about buying a Ford product. These issues must be addressed quickly.
