Does the 2017 Ford Raptor Have a New Tailgate?
After the reveal of the 2017 Ford Raptor at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit last January, some people questioned the design of the rear tailgate. While it’s virtually identical to the tailgate on the normal F-150, it does have a design element that some people questioned, including a very large print FORD logo.
Thanks to some crack spy photographers, we have updated images of the Raptor prototypes that the company is using to test the new truck and to get it ready for launch. Much of the bodywork seems to be complete on the pre-production truck, but we all noticed something different about the tailgate. Check out the spy photos over with our friends at Autoblog.com.
If you look closely, the tailgate has a regular F-150 logo, and the Raptor badge from the previous generation truck. There is no big script saying FORD across the rear tailgate.

Does this mean Ford has changed their mind on the design of the tailgate? Maybe, but maybe not. The goal of showing us the truck all the way back in January for a launch that is still over a year away was to show us what they were planning on. I’d be surprised to see that that has changed for the truck.
