Tuner suggestions

So I am going to keep my ‘22 F350 7.3 CCSB Platinum.
I am contemplating a tuner for it and have a couple questions.
I had a SCT tuner years ago on a ‘13 F250 and liked it.
A couple questions for the wise ones-

A- I am still covered on Fords ESP for quite a while- will I void it adding a tuner?
B- it is my daily driver that pulls a 10k camper a few times during the year plus a 5k boat/trailer more frequently.
Suggested tunes?
C- who’s tuners do we like?

From what I've read Ford be able to see if the tuning has been modified even if it was restored to factory so if you have an engine/transmission warranty claim Ford most probably will say your tune caused the problem regardless if it did

I would love to tune up the engine but then you have to start running 89 or even 93 octane. There is no free lunch

5star tunes worked great on my gas Fords.

5 STAR has 87 octane tunes... Is it worth it...??? Yes it IS, worth it. Why...??? because around 23HP or more, comes on around 1,000 RPM sooner than the stock tune, with the tune I got for my 6.2L gas...

I run an 87 daily/tow tune from 5 star tuning on a '21 6.2 6 speed. The biggest differences were:
  • Massively improved throttle response. The factory pedal was very numb and delayed. The only downside to this is when the truck is in low range and I'm moving a trailer which makes the throttle feel overly sensitive.
  • Much better shifting strategies. It doesn't try to shift into the highest gear immediately around town and tow mode didn't use 6th on the highway unless I was at 80+ (this was updated when I went to 4.88s). The original tow tune they sent me was overly aggressive in how it downshifted in tow/haul mode but they worked with me on a few revisions and now it is dialed.
  • More power... It has more power across the RPM range but I noticed the biggest difference on the top end. It pulls hard with the additional timing and whatever other magic they worked into the tune. I'm sure on the 7.3 it'll be even better.

What about the 6.7L side of things?

I keep seeing EZ Link but, it gets very confusing, very quickly.

Thanks

They are great to work with. Mine shifted into 6th at 51-52 mph, and the road I mainly travel is 50 mph, and it was hunting a lot between 5th and 6th. They dropped it to go into 6th at 45mph and now its a perfect tune for daily, towing our 19' Rinker and 31' TT.

I'd like to join the conversation - 2026 F250 6.8. My only concern is about warranty. I see this was addressed already in the thread but anymore detail or thoughts on the topic?

Technically Magnuson-Moss Act makes it so a manufacturer cant void a warranty for modifications unless they can determine the mods caused the issue. if you get a tune and your engine blows warranty could be denied. some dealers are really good about working with mods and some will find any reason to block warranty repairs. usually the safest bet is if you like your warranty is to leave it stock. you can also check with your preferred dealer and see what they say.

Ok thanks for the info! That makes sense as to why people say check with dealer. In my mind I was wondering why this would be a dealer question (case by case) rather than a standard Ford issue. But the Magnuson-Moss Act part answers that question. I'd really like to 5-star tune my truck for throttle response (which is bad/terrible), power, and shifting improvements.

Just throwing it out there, but what about something like the Bank’s Pedal Monster. No, it’s not a tuner, but you will see a big difference in response. Plus, it doesn’t change anything in the computer so Ford won’t see anything to question your warranty. It also reverts to stock when in reverse so no need to worry about backing up with a super sensitive peddle. Plus, it pulls power from the OBD port, not the pedal so no worries about losing the pedal like with some of the other pedal commanders….

I've heard about that before but it wasn't something I was considering, so thanks for the suggestion! I will check it out.
