Ranger Smokes Out the Shop: Tire Smokin’ Tuesday
Here’s hoping that the Ranger headed to the US can do burnouts like this.
This week’s “Tire Smokin’ Tuesday” video comes to us from the Thommy the Boy YouTube channel and it features a Ford Ranger T6 doing a monster burnout in a fairly tight garage. The mid-sized Ford pickup set to hit American dealership later this year is based on this truck, so when the new Ranger debuts in the USA – hopefully it will pack burnout abilities like this.
There are no details on this Ford Ranger T6, but in looking at the YouTube channel, this footage seems to come to us from Australia. In that market, this mid-sized pickup would have come with a 2.5-liter gasoline engine or one of two diesel engines. It is hard to tell what engine is under the hood from the sound of the exhaust note during the burnout, but it seems to rev like it has an automatic. The automatic transmission was only offered in the T6 with the diesel engines and the ease with which this Ford roasts the tires leads us to believe that it is packing the 3.2-liter diesel with 197 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque.
The tire smoking fun begins with the Ranger sitting in a shop between the posts of a lift. Within the first few seconds of the action, the truck creeps forward, away from the lift as a gentleman standing at the rear of the truck pushes and pulls the body in an effort to keep it straight.
At first, the tires are spinning like crazy, but there is hardly any smoke being created. Fortunately, as the video continues, the tires heat up and smoke pours from the back end, filling the shop and hiding the Ranger as it slowly creeps through the open door.
Crank up your speakers and enjoy!
