Houston Rockets' Austin Rivers Gifts Ford F-150 Raptor to Best Friend

Watch the NBA star surprise his longtime pal with a brand-new truck.

Austin Rivers is well known for playing in the NBA for the Houston Rockets. The 26-year-old point guard and shooting guard has had an impressive career starting at Duke University, and playing for the Los Angeles Clippers and Washington Wizards. Rivers is also an avid auto enthusiast. He even has an Instagram account, Rivers of Cars, dedicated to his current rides as well as his dream rides. But beyond all that, he is an amazing friend.

Recently, Rivers posted a video on Instagram of his friend’s birthday. He hands his friend a present. At first his friend is thrilled when he unwraps it and discovers a Rolex box. But that was just a ruse. He opens the box to see a set of keys. He starts giggling, and they head out to the garage.

“You’ve been my friend since–what–fourth grade.” Rivers says. And then the reveal: A brand new 2019 Ford F-150 Raptor.

His friend is understandably shocked and thrilled. “What the hell?!” he says. “Oh hell no! Austin! That is wild!”

Rivers joins some other big names in giving the gift of Ford. Last year we saw Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson give a custom Ford Truck to his longtime stuntman. We think it is so cool of Rivers to acknowledge a true friend with a truly awesome truck. As Rivers posted, “Giving is so much better than receiving…especially when it’s to the ones you love most!” And especially when it a sweet Raptor.
