Ford August 2024 sales

The strong August sales make Ford America’s best-selling vehicle brand for the second month in a row.

August was the last full month of summer and Ford sales remained hot. Overall sales were up by 13 percent as Ford managed to sell 182,985 vehicles in America. That was more than any other brand. Truck sales were up, SUV sales were up, car sales were up, hybrid sales were up, EV sales were up. As for internal combustion engine vehicles, well, those sales were up also! Ford market share increased by 0.9 points to 12.6 percent.

Ford truck sales were up 12 percent with 103,011 trucks sold during the month. That keeps Ford in the lead as America’s best-selling truck manufacturer. F-Series sales had their best month of the year with 70,701 trucks sold. That is the first month in 2024 that F-Series sales topped 70K. Through August, F-Series sales totaled 492,099. That is 127,000 more than the Chevy Silverado and 253,000 more than Ram. Proving that good things come in small packages, Ford Maverick sales were also up. Way up, actually. Maverick sales in August were up 24 percent with 10,269 trucks being sold. For the year, the Maverick has crossed the 100K sales mark with 100,323 units sold in 2024. That is a staggering 72 percent increase compared to the same time period last year. And the good news doesn’t stop there.

Hybrid Sales

Maverick Hybrid

Ford continues to see strong growth in the hybrid market. Overall hybrid sales are up 50 percent with sales of 16,394 vehicles. F-150 and Maverick hybrid sales totaled 12,077 trucks which was an increase of 47 percent. The Maverick hybrid is the best-selling hybrid pickup in America with sales through August totaling 52,477 trucks. That is a 67 percent increase. The F-150 hybrid is not far behind with 47,477 sales through August. A 46 percent increase, and 15,172 more than the Toyota Tundra hybrid.

Other Highlights

S650 Mustang

People seem to love the new Ford Ranger. August was the best sales month for the redesigned model since it was launched. 5,660 Rangers were sold which is an increase of 174 percent. The Ford Transit remains the best-selling van in America. Sales this year are up 17 percent with 104,451 sold through August. Sales of Ford cars, also known as the Mustang, are up 55 percent. EV sales are up 29 percent. And ICE vehicles are up by 10 percent.

Looking Ahead

Bronco Sport

August was a strong sales month, and we don’t see things slowing down at Ford. The 2025 models are going to start rolling in soon. And the new models have some exciting updates that should drive even more sales. The Maverick and Explorer have been redesigned, and the Bronco Sport can now be equipped with the Sasquatch Package. Those are just a couple of the highlights. Combine those with the possibility of auto loan rates decreasing over the next year, and Ford can be looking at sales increases for a long time to come.
