F-100 Restoration: The $50 Project that Keeps on Giving
After buying the rusty pickup, getting a new engine, and acquiring a different truck for spare parts, the F-100 project continues!
Last month we brought you one of the coolest Ford truck projects currently developing on YouTube. A vlogger by the name of The Corvette Ben bought a 1960 Ford F-100 for $50. As you could imagine, it wasn’t in the best shape.
A couple of things set this project apart from the rest. First, Ben dabbles mainly in Corvette restorations. Second, the F-100 in question is a long-bed model, making it rarer than the average dumped on the side of the road Ford truck. And last but not least, Ben’s goal isn’t to turn this pickup into a Concours ribbon-winner, but simply to bring it up to standards in safety and reliability so he can throw stuff in the back and drive it around town.
The last video featured was episode number four, which showed Ben making somewhat of a parts list from the new parts-only truck, and sharing his idea for his garage expansion. It’s been roughly a month since that video, so we expected Ben to have a big update for us.
Low and behold, episode five just dropped on YouTube and it features Ben getting handy with the Ford motor once again. It begins with the engine’s intake, which he claims to have just picked up at a garage sale. Besides wrapping up the painting process, he discusses the flywheel, engine mounts, and several other housekeeping items like checking the fuel pump, and cylinder compression.
Toward the end, a slight problem arises with the balancer, which Ben isn’t sure will work properly or not. He also asks for help with finding a Ford 302 motor as well as the ports and intake.
