Coyote-Swapped 1956 Ford F-100 Looks Old, Drives Like New
With modern mechanicals and little else, this 1956 Ford F-100 makes one heck of a cool and comfy daily driver.
The 1956 Ford F-100 is considered by many to be the finest-looking F-Series model in history, which is quite notable given how iconic that line of pickups has become. The ’56 F-Series has also become one of the most popular such vehicles to modify over the years, and is often treated to pricey, full-blown, show-winning redos designed to garner trophies and little else. However, that isn’t the case with this 1956 Ford F-100, which is owned by a fellow named Tommy and was featured in a recent video from the DeBoss Garage YouTube channel.
Tommy admits that he initially planned on giving this 1956 Ford F-100 a full-blown frame off redo, and started that process by installing a complete Crown Victoria Police Interceptor independent front suspension while also adding a 5.0-liter Coyote V8 and 6R80 automatic transmission, an Explorer rear end, and Ride Tech coilovers. However, when it came time to make the truck pretty, Tommy just couldn’t quite bring himself to mess with the original patina.
This particular 1956 Ford F-100 had been sitting around for eight years when he purchased it, but prior to that, the truck was previously registered in 1975. The seller found it resting in a field before bringing it home, and it was still in bone stock condition with the original six-cylinder powerplant underhood.
After completing the initial mechanical work and treating the interior to a few upgrades, Tommy realized he had what was essentially the perfect vintage daily driver at that point – a hauler he could drive without worrying about accumulating things like parking lot dings and rock chips. Thus, that’s precisely what he opted to do – stick with a simple rebuild that has this long-abandoned 1956 Ford F-100 driving like a brand new truck, yet looking like something that quite literally just rolled out of a field somewhere in middle America.
