Big Transformation

Many gearheads are familiar with the Netflix series Car Masters: Rust to Riches, which has documented the efforts of a custom shop called Gotham Garage for three seasons now. The premise is familiar - seek out old, beaten-up rides, completely overhaul them, then sell them for a profit. This interesting 1956 Ford F-100 was one of those rejuvenated vehicles, and it was treated to a very comprehensive overhaul after the team discovered it sitting outside, essentially abandoned.

Showing Promise

This particular truck showed a lot of promise despite its raggedy condition and had already been modified a bit prior to its abandonment. For starters, the F-100 was already equipped with a 410 cubic-inch V8 with dual carbs, a tilting hood, and a primer paint job.

Enhanced

Since the body and powertrain were already in good shape, Gotham Garage focused on making this classic Ford F-100 better by adding a number of cool touches like actuators for the hood, fresh wood for the bed floor, and revised side-exit exhaust pipes and running boards.

Interior Overhaul

The interior received a ton of work, however, with the addition of bright red upholstery, a wood steering wheel, new instrumentation, and a plethora of little tweaks to make this pickup a comfortable place to plant yourself for those inevitable cruises around town.

One of a Kind

On the outside, Gotham elected not to leave the F-100 unfinished, as many would say, and instead gave it a very unique, old-school finish - Root Beer Brown. Throw in a custom tailgate and a host of copper accents including the wheels and badges, and it's safe to say this Ford pickup is truly one of a kind.

Second Life

After a bit of hard negotiating, Gotham Garage managed to find a buyer willing to shell out $42,500 for their custom creation, leading to another tidy profit. Perhaps most importantly, this classic Ford was saved from rusting away like far too many already have, and now it's ready to be babied and driven on a regular basis.
