Advanced Fiberglass Concepts Teases Aftermarket Ford Bronco Hardtop
This aftermarket Ford Bronco hardtop figures to be the first of many in development.
It’s no secret that the 2021 Ford Bronco launch was one riddled with problems, from the fact that it took place during a pandemic to numerous supply chain issues, parts shortages, and of course, the famous hardtop woes. Ford’s hardtop supplier, Webasto, was unable to make enough tops to meet demand early on, and those tops were later found to have quality issues, prompting Ford to replace all of them and delay deliveries even further. It was only a matter of time before we started seeing third-party tops, and now, a company called Advanced Fiberglass Concepts is teasing its own aftermarket Ford Bronco hardtop.
AFC’s aftermarket Ford Bronco hardtop is the first we’ve seen to date, but most certainly won’t be the last. Even if Ford wasn’t having such a hard time getting tops, the robust aftermarket surrounding its rugged SUV is already cranking out parts and accessories, after all. But the timing here is impeccable, and there will certainly be folks lining up to buy one, especially those that settled for a soft-top in an effort to speed up delivery.
AFC is also working to make its top free of any of the “honeycombing” issues present in the original molded-in color hardtops that were caused by exposure to extreme heat and cold, problems that some are seeing even on the replacement tops. For now, the company hasn’t provided too much information about this top, however, other than encouraging interested parties to sign up for its newsletter to be informed when more info is available.

We have been working very hard behind the scenes to produce…

We can see from the teaser images provided that this top sports a bit of a fastback design, but the rear portion of the top is not angled quite as far forward as most. Otherwise, the images don’t show a whole lot, other than hinge placement and design. The fact that this hardtop is a fastback will appeal to some and be not so appealing to others, who may not want to give up any cargo space. But we’re pretty confident that AFC isn’t the only company working on designing a new Bronco hardtop from scratch, either.
