Consumer Reports Names Ford F-150 Top Pickup

Consumer Reports has given its 2016 top rating for pickups to the Ford F-150, but are we really surprised? Actually, considering the truck debuted in 2015, we’re kind of wondering what took so long.

Consumer Reports attributes the trucks success to having a “quiet and spacious cabin” and a “the best predicted reliability of any domestic truck.” The F-150 has also shed some considerable weight, thanks to the generous use of aluminum in the truck’s body, which is a benefit to the fuel economy and acceleration.

Along with refined and comfortable interior, the list of engines Ford has given to its customer base hasn’t hurt it either. Two naturally aspirated engines and two EcoBoost engines are all strong choices for the pickup. We’d opt for either the 5.0-liter V8, or the twin-turbo 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6, or course.

The F-150 is the nation’s best-selling truck and this is the first top pick in its category since 1999 – it is certainly well deserved!
