I may be behind a few years, but wasn't there like a Platinum + or something that took the place of the Limited? Looking at that order guide though, it looks like the Platinum is the highest trim now. Not that it matters to me... the XLT is the highest trim I would be interested in... lol!
In the back of my mind , i wonder if the 2 dropped engines will be late model year , hybrids of some sort ?. I just cant see only 2 engine choices . my 2 cents.

2 choices is all they had 2011-2019. That's all you need. A gas option for those that want it, and a diesel option for those that want it. Easy. It's a giant waste of money, for Ford, to product two gas engines that are so similar in design and performance. Same goes for the SO/HO diesel options too.
With the 6.8L gone, they should drop the 10R100 as well.
I said it in the other thread...but I'd love to see a 6.8L/10R100 F150. I want a 5.0 Ranger too...
It would simplify R&D, product sourcing, assembly lines, parts inventory, and confusion in future repairs long after the warranty is up on these things.
Every diesel, Every F350, and a couple F250's already come with the -140. It doesn't make business sense to keep around a entirely different beefed up F150 transmission just for basic F250 gassers. Though, I suspect Ford is just keeping it going since they are already well invested in the -100

What do you think the ratio of straight F-250's to the F-250 Tremor/F-350 + is? My guess it's about 2 to 1... that's a lot of R140's for no reason.
For that matter, dumping the 6.8L is why we can't buy a decent, base model F-250 at a reasonable price. If you have to pay for the 7.3L and the R140 transmission in a base model XL work truck, you are going to chase away a lot of value buyers (fleet.) I have both trucks... My 2023 (7.3/R140) is a VERY different truck than the 2025 (6.8/R100.) Ford made the same stupid mistake forcing 4WD on everyone in anything over the XL in previous years.
The loss of the 6.8 perplexes me, I love my 7.3 but for fleets and budget conscious buyers “Big-Block Displacement” doesn’t always make sense. Not everyone needs the ability to haul a house down the road, but they may need a Super Duty chassis for payload or a plow. The 7.3 is great, but I’m not so sure it makes a base engine use case any more than the 454 Chevy, 8.1 Vortec, or 460 ever did. It’s more if you need maximum capacities but don’t want to spring for the diesel.
The 6.2, then 7.3, then 6.7 made a lot of sense to me, just like how FOREVER Ford ran the 5.4, 6.8, then diesel. Some guys don’t need or want all this engine. The 6.2 filled the “base slot” the best though imo, the 6.8 was still a lot of motor for a base engine. But it was something, now you have a segment uncatered to completely which is dangerous for sales.

I'm wondering if they think there is a problem with the 6.8. why would they stop that? and how will it be to get parts for it in the future since it will only be made 4 years? maybe enough of it is the same as the 7.3? I say bring back the old 7.3 diesel if you want a trusted engine. And another point on price, are these 27's going to have that camera system to shut it down if you're "angry"??
