2021 Ford F-150 FCP Edition Offers up a Suitably Sporty Lightning Alternative
The 2021 Ford F-150 FCP Edition focuses on street performance and style for those missing the old Lightning.
These days, when someone mentions the Ford F-150 Lightning, they’re probably talking about the forthcoming all-electric pickup. But it wasn’t that long ago when Lightning meant on-road performance, something that Ford has essentially abandoned in favor of its off-road dominating Raptor. But for those seeking a sportier street truck, a Ford dealership called Champaign Ford City in Champaign, Illinois now offers a suitable alternative – the 2021 Ford F-150 FCP Edition.
The 2021 Ford F-150 FCP Edition comes in a couple of different flavors – the Earthquake Edition and the Superquake Edition. The former is more of a mild-mannered appearance upgrade consisting of a lowered suspension, 22-inch wheels and tires, tinted windows, a custom “FCP Edition” emblem, an “Earthquake” graphic, a cold-air intake, and a cat-back exhaust.
Step up to the Superquake Edition F-150, and you get the same sort of appearance goodies including a lowered suspension, 22-inch wheels and tires, tinted glass, a custom “FCP Edition” emblem, and an “Earthquake” graphic, but with a bit more juice under the hood. That comes in the form of a Roush supercharger, which bumps the output of Ford’s 5.0-liter Coyote V8 all the way up to 650 horsepower.
As one might imagine, the possibilities here are endless. Customers can start their FCP build with all different kinds of F-150 configurations, then add whatever kind of wheels and other upgrades their heart desires. These videos show off a couple of already-built pickups that are up for sale, including a silver regular cab with body-color bumpers and gloss black trim, a VAS suspension, Niche wheels, and Nitto tires.
The white example has been treated to most of the same upgrades, albeit with a different set of wheels. Both trucks feature a custom-painted grille with a two-tone treatment, while the fender vents have also been painted to match. The resulting monochrome look fits the sporty style of these pickups perfectly, which a lot of street truck fans will appreciate.
The high-performance, gas-powered F-150 Lightning of old is essentially a lock to never return, at least with ICE power, so the FCP Edition seems like a great alternative for those that still appreciate and enjoy the pavement-pounding pickups of yesterday.
