2019 Ford F-150 Even Impresses Self-proclaimed ‘Non-Truck Guy’
Canadian Free Press review of the King Ranch F-150 proves that it isn’t just a great truck. It’s a great vehicle, period.
While the Ford F-150 remains America’s perennial best-selling vehicle, not everyone wants or needs a full-size truck. We don’t really understand it, but hey, to each their own. But the fact that this F-150 review from the Canada Free Press comes from a self-proclaimed “non-truck” person only makes it that much more fascinating to us. Mostly because it proves that even people who don’t particularly like trucks can’t help but fall in love with the F-150.
Our reviewer was particularly stricken by the fact that everyone seemed to love his King Ranch. The truck “garnered ooh’s and ahh’s from a variety of ages and, it appeared, demographic and economic groups,” he noted. CFP was thinking that this “mid-level” trim level wouldn’t draw much attention, but they were obviously wrong. “Maybe it’s just Ford trucks that inspire this lust,” he noted. “Beats me.”
Overall, CFP found the King Ranch F-150 “comfortable and luxurious, and equipped very well, offering just about everything one could want in a modern vehicle as far as technology and toys are concerned.” Their tester came equipped with the 5.0-liter Coyote V8, and they enjoyed its “intoxicating power.” Our reviewer also noted that the V8 “should be enough for all but those who want to pull their houses off their foundations.”
On the inside, CFP enjoyed the LCD screen, which they called “one of the best” on the market. Not to mention the “logical interface” and “big buttons” of the SYNC system. “Heck, I’d rather use Sync in an F-150 than a trackpad in a Lexus or one of those knob-based interfaces,” CFP said. “Well done, Ford! The Ford F-150 King Ranch is an awesome truck and I can see why people get off on it.”
Coming from someone who admits they’d never actually buy a truck, that’s pretty flattering. And it’s just further proof that the F-150 isn’t just a great truck. It’s a great vehicle, period. One that offers up just about anything and everything you’d want in a piece of transportation. And to us at least, that’s the very highest form of praise you could possibly give.
