This 2003 Ford E-350 not only has all the amenities one would expect from a camper, but it also looks incredibly cool.

With camping exploding in popularity over the past couple of years, we’re seeing more and more camper conversions being completed on Ford products such as the Transit and E-350. these conversions range from mild to wild, and many folks are also going to the trouble of giving their camper vans off-road capability as well. That includes this 2003 Ford E-350 up for grabs at Mecum’s upcoming Glendale, Arizona auction, a very cool, very stealthy looking, and likely quite capable off-road machine.

This 2003 Ford E-350 certainly looks the part on the outside, as it’s been completely blacked out for a truly sinister look. That stealthy appearance is complemented by a variety of accessories including a roof rack to hold various camping supplies, ladders to get up there and retrieve them, and a set of black multi-spoke wheels wrapped with Toyo Open Country Mud-Terrain tires to help the big van get over various obstacles.

Also helping out in that department are a variety of suspension upgrades that include Fox off-road shocks, a twin I-beam front setup with a semi-float rear suspension, and a full-size spare mounted out back in case something goes wrong in the rocks and the driver suffers a flat. Inside, a tidy gray interior is fitted with the amenities one might expect from a camper, such as air conditioning and an AM/FM stereo, along with a fridge, sink, couch/bed, stove, and toilet, to name a few.

Solar panels on the roof supply juice for the van’s many power features, while Ford’s 7.3-liter diesel provides 444 horsepower and copious amounts of torque to move the big box around, with an automatic transmission handling the shifts.

Overall, this E-350 looks like a professionally built rig that would be loads of fun to drive on some lighter trails, as well as spend a few nights in the wilderness with all the same amenities a dedicated camper would provide. The fact that it looks like something from a futuristic apocalypse movie, well, that’s just an added bonus.
