Buy a F-150 in Any Color, as Long as It’s Black

Black F-150

There was a time long ago where if you went to a Ford dealership to purchase a new automobile, it would only come in the color black. That’s right. You could only get a black Ford. Henry Ford himself was quoted as saying, “Any customer can have a car painted any color that he wants so long as it is black.” So it should come as no surprise, so many years later, that the number one selling color on the 2015 Ford F-150 is black.

According to AutoTrader, the most commonly searched for color on the whole of their website is black. But if you drill down deeper to the most searched for car and color combination, a black Ford F-150 is the winner. More people search for black F-150s than any other car or truck… in the world.

The stats are broken down even more. The most popular color for the XL trim is Oxford White, and the King Ranch and Platinum trims are White Platinum Metallic (an extra-cost paint). But the volume sellers, the XLT and Lariat, are Tuxedo Black.

Check out the infographic to see the further breakdown of colors for the various F-150 trims, and check out more on AutoTrader‘s site.
