1997 E150 Need location of computer (High Top Conversion Van)

I need help in locating my computer in my 97 E150 Turtle High Top Conversion Van. I have looked all under dash and both kick panels and haven't located anything that looks like a computer. I bought a computer out of a 96 van in hopes that it will work? Now I can't find anything that looks like the one that I bought? Any ideas as to where I can look now. All help is Greatly Appreciated, I am going CRAZY trying to get this thing running like it should!!!!

Thanks,
SCBeachBum

Doesn't anyone have any idea where I can locate the computer on my van? I have done everything else I have been told to do to get this thing running kike it should, Changing out the computer is the last thing I can dp. It runs like it is only running on 7 cylinders. It has no power when I accelerate and kinda sputters. I have cleaned the injectors, put on new catalytic converters, new power packs, new EGR valve & sensor, new plugs & wires, fuel pump checked and new map sensor ect. So, as you can see I am running out of things to try AND MONEY. So, PLEASE HELP any way you can.

Thanks A Million,
SCBeachBum

P.S.
If you have any idea other than the computer all information is Greatly Appreciated:-)

No personal experience with this but here's what the service manual reads:
Powertrain Control Module (PCM)
1. Disconnect battery ground.
2. Remove air cleaner assembly.
3. Remove wiring harness retaining bolt and wiring connector cover.
4. Disconnect the wiring harness.
5. Remove the retaining nuts and the PCM.

It's under the battery box I hear, a friend had to get his in his 95 replaced and it was on the passenger side under the battery box around the AC stuff. I see a box in my 99 on the drivers side inside the firewall under the dash inserted in from outside the van under the hood somewhere, have no clue what it is.

I'm pretty sure your computer is over under the battery. But your symptoms sound like what has happened to my 2002 a few times now - ignition coil failure. If you have the coil-over-plug ignition, have someone check out your coils. They are absolute hell to get to. If it seems to start ok, but idles a bit rough, and won't accelerate, that is likely your problem.

Location of PCM on 1994 E150?

Does anyone know if the PCM on a 1994 5.8L E150 would be under the battery box, or somewhere else in the engine compartment?

If I recall correctly on my 1995 e-150, 5.8L the PCM was slotted next/or below to relays/fuses, in the engine compartment.

My 99, much like the 97, it's on the drivers side by the master cylinder going into the firewall, you can see it inside but it removes from outside under the hood.

Thank you for the quick replies, guys! My van is currently in the shop and I don't have access to it. I want to go to a U-Pull-It yard in the morning and now I know where to look for the PCM.

FYI the 97 has the modular engines which in no way are anything like the pre 97, so you can not get a pre 97 ECM and the computer controlled transmissions require a matching unit also.

Thank you! My van is a 1994 with the 5.8L. I figured I would look for exactly the same thing at the U-Pull-It yard.

I think that even 96 was different from 95. I don't know if there would be any differences between 95 and 94. Actually for this one, you might want to actually stop at the dealer and ask someone who knows. Would any flashing will be needed?

I don't know if it will need flashing. If it's needed, I expect my repair garage will take care of it. They suggested I get the PCM, although they have not yet isolated that as the cause of my problem.

A friend has 90's Econolines 2 are the same year and both have different transmissions, one has a C-6, one a AODE, another A40D, etc, his vans are 2-95, 96, 2-90 models.

That's a lot of Econolines! Does he use them all?
