Anyone have a Recon LED 3rd brake light??

I just purchased a Recon 3rd brake light online and was told it fit 1997-2003 Ford F-150, 2000-2004 Ford Excursion. Well I had a 2001 excursion, so I figured it would fit. I bought it used. I did a little research and found the part number he had listed (264122BK) was the same as was stated online from other vendors that it fit these years. Could the guy have put the wrong part number on his ad?
Any help??

RECON parts are not a highly talked about subject here, as I've asked acouple of questions about using RECON lights and not really getting a enough information about why I couldn't install they're lights. Good luck.

Thanks hwybee. I got it so I can run my LED strobe flasher on it and use it as an additional warning light while plowing. I am wiring in a relay so the brake light functions as normal and when I hit my switch for my LED flasher, it will strobe.
I know most aftermarket parts dont fit as good as OEM, but this thing fits terrible, you would think that is didnt go to the Ex. It looks that bad. Maybe I wont get any responses, but i thought I would try.

I'm no expert BUT I'm pretty sure the Excursion third brake light is actually a unique design exclusive to the Ex. The regular Superduty ones may kinda fit but not really correctly. Sounds like what you have described. Looking around on the web I have seen several listings for taillights that are advertised as fitting both the F series trucks and our Excursions........the only problem with that is we share taillights with the Econolines NOT the Superdutys. I have seen a photo of the Ford Lightning third brake light/cargo light mounted on an Ex liftgate and the fit was very poor. You should be able to sell the Recon unit to a Superduty guy, Good luck.

I wanted to get RECON lights all the way around and also get the strobe light kit, but was shot down by RECON when they said that the lights wouldn't fix my X. Oh well.

Tio, they should fit. All of the Superduties and the Excursions used the same mirror (with signal) for the years listed in the auction.

Yeah, all the websites say they fit F series and Ex's. Horrible fit! I know the superduty ones wont fit. Hmmm.....what to do!

Do you have a photo you can post?
I cant use the courtesy light either, but I am hooking it up to my LED flasher. I will post a video of it when Im done. It will quad flash the courtesy light then quad flash the brake light.

You realize someone shot the back of your Ex! lol. Looks like it fits better on yours, but the photo is kind of far away. It has like a 1/2" gap all the way around it. Guess that is the way it is support to be.
