Question under hood detail = check engine lights

Please help. I took my new to me 2001 expedition 5.4 to the detail shop before bringing it to the wife. the truck has been running fine for months (i bought it from someone I work with) until the detail shop. I did not realize a full detail meant under the hood,,, driving it from the detail shop to home (100 miles) produced engine light blinking and bucking under load.

I stopped and bought a code scanner half way home... and found 3 codes... 0171, 0301, & 0306

bank one lean, misfire on #1 and misfire on #6

I thought maybe the water blast shorted a couple plugs and knocked a vacuum line loose. I looked in the parking lot and could not find any sign of plugs or wires...

I had a trip planned for the next two days and
I hoped that letting it rest would fix it... but no luck... it took me searching the internet to find the the plugs.... and the cop's

I took the the coils off #1 and #6 today, blew compressed air in the wells and replaced the boots. while I was at it I removed and returned all the vacuum line connections I could see but found nothing glaring...

I put all back together and drove it... i am now getting 0300, 0301, & 0306...

perhaps I fixed a vacuum leak getting rid of the bank #1 lean issue but still have misfires...

please help... I am 45 miles from a ford garage and not sure I trust them anyway...

AFAIK once the COP's get fried they are done for. To double check move them to say #5 and #2 and see if the miss follows them. I'd also suggest going to ebay and buying the full set of 8 COP's or under $100 when you replace the bad ones.

if the cop's were fried, would there not be a separate code?

Should be but it don't always happen. Switch the coils like he said and see what happens. You should also check every coil's electrical connection and do the same for every injector. A loose connection at the injector will cause a serious miss and not throw a code right away. Been there and learned that.

Water intrusion from under-hood detailing has always been a problem.

It takes someone who really know what they're doing - which parts to cover up with plastic - to do it well... and even then I, personally, avoid ever detailing whole engine compartments on used vehicles. It's just not worth the trouble.
