Lighting Issues

So the only thing stopping me from getting my 77 F-250 on the road is that my brake lights and turn signals won't work. I changed the two cylindrical fuses under the dash and still no avail. Does that rectangular fuse under the dash control the lighting? I'm hoping its not a wiring issue. I know the bulbs are good and the emergency flashers work. Do the turn signals and brake lights use the same wires as the emergency flashers? Any troubleshooting help is greatly appreciated.

Turn signals and brake lights use the same wiring. You need to check and see if you have power at the brake light switch. If you do I would suspect the turn signal switch, the brake lights are routed through the turn signal switch.
The hazards are before the brake lights so its not uncommon to have the hazards work but not the brake lights.

check the ground tabs IN the plugs where the bulbs sit. they corrode and brake off a lot. I had no lights in the back of my truck, save for 1 parking side running light.

do your running lights work? they are the same bulb (different filament) as the brakes/signals

turn signal switch is right where you think - the column. the flasher switch sends signal right through the brake wire so it works with the ignition off.

To change the turn signal switch you have to remove the steering wheel.
