Talking THE WOOD BLOCK TERROR!!!

HEY EVERYONE!
QUICK QUESTION FOR Y'ALL!
THE 1951 F-3 I'VE BEEN GABBIN' ABOUT FOR AWHILE HAS A BENCH SEAT (DON'T KNOW IF IT'S ORIGINAL OR NOT) BUT IT WAS BEING HELD UP ON SOME WOOD BLOCKS. I HAVE UN SUCCESSIVELY ATTEMPTED TO FIND ANY PICTURE OF THE ORIGINAL SEAT AND HOW THEY USED TO MOUNT IT.

YOU GUYS HAVE ANY IDEAS AS I WOULD REALLY LOVE TO KEEP THIS SEAT AND REUPHOLSTER IT (IN LEATHER!!!).
HOW WAS IT ORIGINALLY MOUNTED OR DETERMINE WHETHER THIS IS THE ORIGINAL.
OR IF IT ISN'T IF I REUPHOLSTER THIS ONE AND FIND THE ORIGINAL ARE THE SEATS RELATIVELY THE SAME SIZE SO AS TO USE THE SAME SEAT COVER??
(THE LEATHER I'M USING IS TOP GRADE UPHOLSTERY HIDE. EACH HIDE IS OVER 5' AND WAS ON SALE FOR $20.00 EA. I'M NOT GOING TO WASTE ALL THREE OF MY HIDES ON A SEAT I CAN'T USE).

THANKS FOR ANY HELP AND LOVE THE SITE!!!!!

I believe the stock bench seat frames are the same for F-1 & up trucks . I do not think Ford used wood blocks for support . Have 2 seat frames here .Get your email sent to me and I will send pics .Later , Denny

I have done that a few times but, I put the blocks between the frame and the seat.

Here's the seat for my '51. From what I have seen at the local wrecker, the frames look to be very similar from '48-'52 F1-F3. Ignore the cloth cover, should be vinyl. Mine is missing the holes for the angle brackets (last pic) that go to the floor (likely an earlier frame), should be one on each side of the seat (check floor for holes).

The seats are the same for '48-52, F-1 through F-8. They show up on eBay and Craigslist on a regular basis and usually sell pretty cheap. Shipping is usually the determining factor as to whether they are feasible.

Wood blocks were a common "fix" for a seat that was too low or at an uncomfortable angle for the driver back in the day. It should be pretty obvious if new holes were drilled in the floor to mount a different seat once you take it out.
