silver vs gold
I gotta do the ball joints in my '96. So I was looking at the napa web site to get an approximate of my parts cost. I saw that the regular quality parts are just about half of the "gold" parts. Other than simulated piece of mind are they really better quality parts? Or are they just painted a different color?
For instance the lower joint prices are $24 and $48. I'd be more apt to believe that it was better if it didn't seem so obvious to be just a price hike.

Repeatedly changing parts is not my idea of fun but buying the "gold" parts on the assumption that they are better and spending twice the money just for a longer warranty isn't a much better idea. Besides then I'd have to find the receipt if and when the good part breaks and prove it was not just typical wear to get a free one. Compared to buying the "cheap" one for half price and then buying another. You still end up with two parts at the upper price.
On top of which when the truck was made parts like these were subbed out to the lowest bidder.
