Hello again ford people,i had a bad u joint in the rear drive shaft of my 1997 f-350 ,so i went to autozone and picked up one of there gold series u joint(suposed to be the better one) anyway brought them home cause i figured i would just do them both since it was all ready out.And they was to small to fit the whole,so i took them back and it was the right part # ,so he went back and got another one out that was the right size,so i asked him what it was for and it was for the stering joints in the front axle,just curious if anyone else ran into this or what kind of odd ball truck do i have lol.
az's u-joints database isnt really good for these.ran it it myself there too.now i take the old ones out,and bring them in with me.
their lifetime warranty gold joints are not too bad i suppose,because i put them in back about 3 yrs ago now.i haul heavy and plow and only just had to replace one in the front of the rear shaft.i figured thats pretty good.almost 50k miles and many of them have been real hd working hours.so i just tossed another one in.easy enough to swap out and don't have to worry about greasing 'em meanwhile.
edit.my bad!
i thought i had replaced these when i first got my truck.not so.didn't have to replace until latter;
recently at this mileage replaced again;
so not all that great.for what i do with the truck though,not sure if that's too bad either.hmmm.
