Scraping Noise On Turn

Scraping Noise On Turn
I have an occasional noise when I come into my driveway or certain parking lots. It's usually when I have to make the turn a little tighter than normal and hit a bump, like the storm drain bump in from of my driveway (in a subdivision . . . not talking about a huge curb or anything). It sounds like metal scraping. I do have the running boards, but can really find any signs of rubbing there. I'm not thinking that I'm hitting the bumps hard enough to get those to bottom out anyway. Does anyone have any ideas?

I'm also having this issue when I reverse out of my driveway, we all have little dips between the road and the curb for water drainage and occasionally there is a horrible scraping sound. NO idea what it could be and doesn't happen all the time. Only happens when the steering wheel is almost all the way to one side.

Well the only way I know to find what is rubbing is to drive into the driveway while a spotter watches for obvious scrapping his none is found then repeat until you hear the noise again and then stop the truck have look around and under the truck at the suspension to see if there is anything unusual looking.
Or you can go to dealer and let them at it.

Pretty sure it is your traction control coming on...mine has been doing the same thing since I drove it off the lot. This is a common problem.
There are threads on other forums complaining about this issue. Most notice it more when they add a leveling kit and bigger tires but mine came on with the same frequency before and after the leveling kit (same Scorpion tires).
Next time you pull into the driveway, turn off the TC ahead of time and see if it happens again. Good luck.

Having the same problem
My new 2010 F150 Lariat SuperCrew with 650 miles on it is doing the same thing when turning and going over a rise on the road. I've tied it to speed at which I am making the turn, if I'm 10 mph or less no noise or grabbing sensation, any more speed it makes the rubbing noise and the grabbing sensation. I did what some recommended to do- turn off the traction control and tried it and it didn't do it, when I turned the TC back on and tried again it did it. I was really worried that something bad was happening but it sounds like it is a trait of these newer F150's I'll have to get used to. My 2007 F150 Lariat did not have this issue. Thanks for your information. If anything else happens I'll post and let you know.

I have had a 06 f150 and just recently bought a 10 f150... I believe I have found the problem. Unfortunately there is no known solution. What I believe the problem is that the part that comes off the frame and hooks in on the ball joints off the front wheels has a lip that is lower, the previous models are flat on the bottom, and they didn’t have a lip.... I have looked under my truck and have seen the scraping marks.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>

Not sure if this is exactly what you guys are hearing or another issue. I get more of a bang on my new F150 SCrew when turning hard and hitting an incline or bump. Took it to the dealer and he showed me a bump-stop on the inside of the front wheel to prevent too much travel and possible damage with the independent front suspension. Said is was a common question on newer F150s and part of the design. Doesn't sound good to me though, makes me think I just broke something when it happens. I also have a problem with the brakes releasing if I am going down a steep hill and hit a bump. Kinda seems like the anti-lock system cycles. Its kinda scary when it happens and your close to traffic. Anyone else have this issue??
