Can i Make my tilt a non-tilt steering column?

Ive got an 83 F250 Diesel 4spd. And it has a tilt steering wheel in it. Well heard a pop behind the steering wheel and and the the steering wheel pointed to the sky. It can adjust it back down, but it will pop all the way back up. I pulled the Steering wheel off and the blinker plastic crap out and discovered the housing that holds the lock cylinder and the blinker unit had been broken where the tilt holds. Can I make this column a non-tilt column by using parts from another column? If not, i guess i can try and get the column appart and weld it back together. Oh, by the way, I pulled the snap ring off the top of the column, and nothing will come appart, wtf, is it pressed on?
Thanks in advance,
Jerry

You will need a non-tilt column to get enough parts to change it around, so the easiest thing for you is to swap the whole non-tilt column in. There are a lot of differences between the two types of columns.
