depends on what you mean by rebuild. if you mean bare block yes. short blocks, heads, long blocks can be done in less then 3 days. assuming that there are no other jobs going on and all parts are in house or local.

Pay their production costs and I'll bet 30 to 40 hours looks cheap.

Six weeks Sounds more like the dealer stole your ride,That is far too long for a shop to have a customers vehicle IMHO I would loose it on someone if I were in your shoes.

my HG's were just tested i guess and they were fine. but then i put a mild tuner in it... am i guaranteed a $3500 dollar bill sometime down the line ?
A lot of that also depends on the tuner brand and who wrote the tunes!

With six weeks left on my warranty and 43,000 on the truck. I took it in to the dealer for minor puking. They changed the oil cooler, turbo, and head gaskets. The bill was $5,400.00. My part was $1,200.00 as I requested ARP studs be installed. I consider myself lucky as I now have ARP studs. If you get your head gaskets changed I would sure pay the extra to have the studs installed. It sure gives you piece of mind and I could get a tuner without having to worry.
