How do you get rid of sugar in you tank?

I have never had anybody put sugar in my tanks before, my truck runs like it is out of gas.
The machanic that I took the truck to said, "you have a blown motor, you will need a whole new engine, and it can't be sugar in you gas tank."

Has anybody ever had this happen and what did you do?
I don't want to get rid of my truck, I love my truck..

Help!!!!

 

your gonna have to remove the tanks and have them cleaned , most likley new fuel pumps also

 

I'm sure the sugar has gone through the system.

I drove the truck about 15 miles before it started acting funny.
It drove like it was almost out of fuel. When I would push on the gas it would try to go, but wouldn't.

Then it would die if it drop down to low of rpm's, it would idle for about 20 sec. before dying.

It smelled really lean, also.
Does that sound like sugar in the tank?

If it is Sugar, I have a carb., don't I have to boil that?

Need help finding out what it is exactly!!!!!!!!

Hopefully, the filter may have stopped the sugar from reaching the carbs; hence the lean run condition.

Diesel fuel in son's contour cost $550. to drop and clean tank, pump, filter and injectors (paid by Citgo).

 

I have never had this but have heard of a few times, in carburetor days.

What sugar does is 1) it gums up the carb(injectors?) and 2) It carbons up the engine.

If you have ever seen those "Magic Snakes" for July 4th, those are made with sugar. When the sugar burns, well you have seen what happens.

I have never had to do this, but I have been told you need to completely dump all your gas and try to flush out your fuel system. Then if you are lucky some fresh gas and some Techron might do the trick.

If you are not lucky, then you may have to clean out the injectors or carb, regulator and maybe even the engine cylinder heads.

Happened to me on a tractor once. Had to clean it from tank to carb. The sugar dissolves in the fuel to some extent with the excess left in the tank. So the tank definitely needs to be
removed and cleaned thoroughly. If there is a lot of sugar you'll find it in the bottom of the tank. Depending on your set-up I'd clean/flush it all thoroughly, replace filters, and give it a try from there. Flush all the lines and drain the carb if you can. What have you got to lose? I've heard lots of war stories about sugar. Some say it gums up fuel system, piston rings, etc. I think the extent depends on how long it's been there, how much you've run it, etc. It's a dirty, nasty trick to pull and downright cowardly at that. My tractor ran fine after I completely cleaned and rebuilt the fuel system and carb.

 

the best you can do, is stop truck and start cleaning process as above our friends describe.

 

next time get locking gas caps.

 

I have the Truck up and running again.
There was about a pound of sugar in the tank, there was to much to go through the lines, so it stop at the fuel pump in the tank..

WAZZUPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hear that diesel fuel in petro vehicles is akin to maalox in field mice, "KABOOM JOHNNY!" I once had an accident when I accidently used Corn Oil instead of diesel in my petro, turns out i got 43.8 miles per gallon! For long interstate trips, I try to step up to olive oil.

 

The sugar actually dissolves in the fuel, so yes you were burning some sugar. That which did not dissolve you found in the tank.
