Wrong fluid in transfer case

Hi,
I just drained the T-case oil in my '93 F350, 460 and found it had some thick oil in it instead of the recommended Mercon V. Do I need to take it apart and clean it before putting in Mercon. I have no idea how long it's been like that.
Thanks

I'd just fill it and run it for a while, then change it again.

That's what I'll do. Simple, easy.
Thanks
