Secure spare tire to underside? '92 F-150
Hi, I have a 92 F-150 single cab with a spare tire that just rolls around in the bed and I was wondering if there was possibly a mount out there so that I can attach it to the underside, like most new trucks?
I did find this..

No other details however.
Any help? Thanks.

Yes all these trucks came with under bed spare carriers, but in northern climates they rust solid and trap the tire under there so some folks like me and the PO of your truck end up having to cut it off to get the tire out. The carrier isn't anything too fancy, just a stamped bracket shaped to cradle the tire with a hinge on 1 end bolted to the frame and a long bolt at the other end, you should be able to find these at a scrapyard, just be prepared to cut the bolts and buy new ones.

You can also get a bracket to secure it to the side of the bed of your truck. The benefit is that it won't rust solid and be unavailable when you need it, and you will also not have to lay in the rain/mud/snow/whatever to get to it while road crap falls all over you as you're removing the bracket holding it in.

If you do put the original bracket/bolts back on, it would be a good idea to remove the spare in the spring & fall to check the pressure, and make sure that you can get it off. The original mount had the rear most bolt looped on the end so that you could use the tire iron to loosen it if it was rusted. When assembling, always use this on the bolts to keep from rusting:

Purchased a 1990 F-150 Supercab last year didn't drive much until lately & have been without spare tire or carrier. Thought someone might steel a spare laying in the bed of the truck.
Was going the difficult route & about to purchase a spare tire carrier that goes under the rear gas tank when found this thread.
Can someone suggest what type of or where I might get my hands on a bracket to secure the tire to the bed of the truck?
I found this fordpartsgiant.com but its out of stock:
Spare wheel carriers - side mounted - with styleside box, 1990 ; Ford 150 Series
Not having much luck with eBay, Google or Fordparts.com (all I can find @ Ford is the under bed carrier for $300).
thanks
