I smell GAS!!!

Need some advice please......

I own a 90 Bronco, 351efi. All I can smell is gas from the exhaust pipe. Not so much unburned gas, but the smell of burned gas. I put in new plugs, wires, rotor, distributor cap, various injector cleaners and octane boosts into the tank, and have the same result......the smell of gas. As a matter of fact, it seems the timing is out some, and no matter the adjustment I make, I cant seem to get the timing perfect.

Any suggestions or answers are surely appreciated!!

........Scott

Pull codes. Run both a KOEO and KOER test and see what the ECM "tells" you is wrong. Rich conditions can be caused by a number of issues. Pinpoint anything the computer says is wrong first. It will save you time, money and headaches.

if you smell fuel that isnt good. pull the oil dipstick and smell the oil. if it smells like fuel you need to stop driving your rig.
check the fuel pressure at the rail with a gauge. also pull the vacum line off the fuel pressure regulator and if gas comes out that part needs replaced.

also when you set the timing you need to pull the spout connector.
Ford Fuel Injection for pulling codes, setting the timing properly etc..

Thanks for the advice ya'll,

I will have the codes run on it.

Gas cap tight.

Question about the rail pressure.....How many pounds am I looking for, and it something I can use a tire guage on? and also, where is the fuel regulator located?....Oh, there isnt any smell of fuel in my oil, thank goodness!

get a haynes manual. all the general info you are seeking.

and use a fuel pressure gauge. you dont need to pay anyone to run codes either. do it yourself.
