No Limit rack & pinion - hose inlet connector sizes
Hi all,
I've got the straight axle rack & pinion kit from No limit engineering. I'm trying to work out the thread pattern and the type of fitting i need for the power steering hose inlet & outlet (I have a new set of hoses I can use but need to use a male to male adaptor to connect the hoses) to the inlet/outlet.
I contacted No limit and the only info they gave me was 14mm (inlet) & 16mm (outlet) - which is next to useless as they don't specify thread type/end type etc which is kind of important as thats what creates the seal!!
Any information greatly appreciated!

LATE MUSTANG IFS POWER RACK & PINION UPGRADE
Please read these instructions completely BEFORE
starting your installation!
Your HEIDTS Hot Rod Shop Power Rack & Pinion
contains the following items:
1) Power Rack & Pinion
2) Rack Spacers
2) 5/8-11 x 4 1/2” Bolts
The rack & pinion supplied is a 1994 and later “V” style Ford Mustang
unit. This rack can be used on any of our Front Suspension
Crossmembers that has the slotted rack mount on the passenger side.
The kit is supplied with two 3/4” spacers* which must be installed between
the rubber rack bushings and the rack mounts on the crossmember. Use
the longer 4 1/2” bolts supplied. See Figure 1. *Note: The 3/4” spacers are
not to be used on our HEIDTS PRO-G Camaro Front Subframe Kit.
This power rack has a “V” style input shaft and uses the same tie rod
ends as the Mustang II rack. The high pressure fitting is the M14x1.5
thread port which is toward the front of the rack, and the return fitting is
M16x1.5 thread port that is at the rear, closest to the pinion input shaft.
See Figure 2. WARNING! Care must be taken that the hoses are hooked
up correctly, since the braded hose adapters supplied with most hook-up
kits convert both ports to a –6 hose size. If the hoses are incorrectly
installed, the internal pressure will blow out the seals under the boots and
cause leaking. Incorrect hose installation will void the warranty, as the rack

I'm not sure that the rack they use for the straight axle kit is the same as what they might use for their IFS kits. So that might be cause for confusion.

Thanks for the help so far guys,
I thought it best to check this out fully - especially as a fitting I have from a 70's mustang power steering pump seems to screw into the larger fitting ok (and thats definantly not an M16 although its very close).
If only these companies would put more information in the instructionsto help us all out and make life a bit easier eh!!

You can see that this hose kit comes with the adaptors that screw into the rack, so one should be 14 mm (o-ring)to AN 6 and one 16 mm (o-ring) to AN 6. I tried looking for just the adaptors earlier, and I think they are available, but it was getting very complicated so gave up and ordered hoses with adaptors.

I did a Google search for " 14 mm to 6 adaptor " and got a couple of million hits, but this one look interesting so I quit. Any industrial hydraulic fitting supplier in the UK should be able to help you, metric hydraulic is now common on excavators etc.
