A Heli-Coil Question

My '88 has a problem holding it's water.

The problem is that one of the two bottom bolts that hold the water pump on has stripped threads in the weld nut on the inside of the front plate of the engine.

I can pull the front of the motor apart and put a new front cover on, but what a PITA.

I can drill and put a Heli-Coil in it, change the oil and put the bolt back in the bottom of the water pump but I thought that I would ask here first if anybody has done this fix before and what the results were?

Thanks in advance.

Ron

Almost forgot, GO COLTS!!!!!!

It will work, but them shavings are going to be small. They make drain plugs with magnets on them. I would see if I could find one to fit the IDI in case the oil didn't wash it all out. You can also dip your bit in grease and a lot of the shavings will stay on the bit.

Remember the timing gears are right behind that plate.
