CPP hood flip kit
#16
I bought the No LImit kit for mine and I'm having a fitment problem. Don't quite understand the adjustment directions they send with the kit. The hood needs to go toward the drivers side in the back. Also the passenger side is higher than the drivers side. I'm deslexic when it comes to decifering directions. sdetweil you said you used a pin thru the hinge, instead of the prop rod ,got a picture of that i like the sound of that idea.

The way that I have found to be easiest with the No Limit kit (and others for that matter) is to get the hood set in place and mounted at the front with the hinge assembly. Let the rear of the hood set on the cowl and shim up as necessary to protect the paint (assuming that you don't have any windlace there) autobody rubber squeegees work great for this. Once the rear gaps on the hood are correct then mount/adjust the rear roller assemblies. These rear assemblies should be adjusted to provide support to the rear of the hood in such a manner as to keep the gaps that you previously established and they should used to raise the back of the hood up or down on each side so the the level of the hood matches the level of the cowl. Where most folks go wrong is that they tweak the front hinge and then they tweak the rear rollers, then they tweak the front again, and then...you get the idea. Good luck...

I heard what you said about the MF bumpers being fugly, but I wonder how noticeable they would be against my black paint as opposed to your green? I also considered buying a long skinny srtip of black UHMW nylon, maybe with rounded edges, and using that. You actually removed some metal from the rear of the hood?

it would be better to put the gasket on the hood side, but it will rub the paint off the cowl over time due to the movement
yes, the back lip of the hood comes straight down, we shaved off about 1/3 to stop the rubbing on open/close

Time to open up an old thread.....Any updates now that it's nearly 2015?
I'm looking to do a hood tilt on a '54 F100.
Can anyone give me some insight as to what they consider to be the best hood tilt system being made now?
Has anyone found a great fix to the cowl windlace getting torn up?
Pics are always appreciated

Is the back edge lip of your hood trimmed? Is this something that I should consider?

This is the self adhesive cowl lacing that I used. It's been on for about 7-8 years with no problems. I got it from a company called "steel rubber
