CPP hood flip kit

Anybody own one of these? Opinions? I tried to buy a flip kit from Mike Chesser (Chesserbuilt), but the guy just does not answer his fone nor reply to voice or e-mails.. Hotrods sells the CPP unit and will be down here next month at the Zephyrhills autofest, saving me shipping.

I have the Midfifty MMB reverse tilt hood kit installed on mine.

this is the rollers are on the hood, the guides are on the body..

the Ron Francis/MF y2k, kit is the guide is on the hood, and the rollers are on the body.

it was easy to install and adjust.. is secure and looks good.. I use the pin thru the hinge style lock to hold it open vs the prop rod.

I used the unpainted version, and painted it to match..
they have a chrome version too..

we put some hood re-inforcement between the supports and the hood shell to stop oilcaning.. would be hard to do with the chrome version

Jim,
I have used the No Limit kits with good success, some folks prefer the CPP/MMB style but for the most part each has their own offsetting features and issues. I know the guy who makes the MMB kits that MidFifty sells, if you can afford it buy the polished stainless steel kit it is sweet.

One and the same as far as I know,I bought the painted version from CPP as I believe it was a little cheaper for the same product.

Hi Jim, I seem to remember a little while back a few of the guys were having trouble with the hood lip catching or rubbing on the raised part of the cowl when opening and closing. I believe they were using the MBB style? I might be wrong though, it has happened before. I do know positively though that my hood tilt kit from No Limit doesn't have that issue. Just food for thought.

yep, that was me.. MF provides a bumper kit that goes into the cowl lacing screw holes.. looks like sh.. I am using the soft rubber cowl lacing.. also looks the same after a few times opened..

I put new windlace on a few months back. I must now remove it? What did you end up using, Sam?

I used the full rubber windlace.. with the stainless screws..,

the hood edge catches on it and will tear it loose from the screws..

but the ugly alternative is to have 9-1/2in round black teeth sticking up along the cowl edge.. ick..

I just bought extra windlace, and replace as required.. still looking for a better choice..

when the hood comes up on open, the back goes down a little cause of the ramp pivot point location.. then when u pull forward.. it grabs the windlace

I ordered the CPP/MMB kit from Hotrods today and Rod will be bringing it down with him next month. I then called MF to inquire about this windlace issue and Shar said that it IS a problem with flipped hoods and that they sell rubber "buttons" of differing heights for the cowl end of the hood to rest on. I assume that's what you are refering to. Said 7/16" is the most used one. I will wait till I get my kit all painted and hood mounted to see which ones I need.

Yes, that is what I was talking about..

DO NOT WAIT til paint is completed.. test it.. I had to shave the back hood edge lip a little to keep from scratching the cowl.. these bumpers end up looking like teeth across the cowl.. fugly..

I also welded a small rod across the inside edge hood lip for stability, but it doesn't interfere with this problem.

Sam, you do understand that I was talking about painting the flip kit and not the hood, right? Can you post a couple pics of these 2 mods/problem areas you refered to? You're suggesting to go ahead and bolt ebverything up b4 painting the bare steel? Thanx, Jim
