Ilya, thanks for the offer but I think the true beauty of the "Monkey Face" shouldn't be hid, only enhanced with that Ford guard. I have one too but it needs rechroming, I got an estimate of $500, a little too steep for my budget.

I do have a enhancement suggestion for the owners of the "Manure Spreader" grill trucks:

This will not only enhance the look but spare the sensibilities of the general public at large.

Hey Gil,

Your feeling aren't gonna be what's hurting if you do any rechroming!

To hide the fine detailed lines of even one dagmar is denying the world the benefit of fully appreciating the joy that is the '51-52 Ford truck grill. Would anyone paint a mustache the Mona Lisa? Would some one put a Moo-Moo on the Venus De Milo?

If the guard is for sale the shipping costs could astronomical to have it shipped all the way across country. I would hate to see either one of you fine FTE members suffer any financial hardship. WI is much closer to TN, basically a hop, skip and jump away. I'm sure the cost to have it shipped here would be a mere pittance.

Not even I can go on with this absurdity, if the guard is available good luck, anything to cover that grill will be an improvement
I'm glad you clarified Bob! Poor Hurst, he asks a question and now the vultures are circling.

I just thought is would be neat to have, and didn't realize it was such a popular novelty. I can't mount it on my truck anyway - full front tilt ya know.

So if hurst wants to sell it you and Ilya can wrestle for it. And I hate to agree with you and Bobby (what is it with Roberts and 51/52 grilles?) on the grille slander, but in this case I really do think this guard would look better on a 48-50 - just to help it out. No sense in ruining something that looks great all by itself already.

I mean honestly, would you cover up Sophia Loren with a Roman Body Armor to dress her up?

Bob~

Just when you I think you've fallen and smacked your melon you go and totally redeem yourself. The bag was a nice touch. And yes, that is some good looking Roman Body Armor

I gotta admit, I'd drive her chariot. LOL

Speaking of Sophia Loren, this was always one of my favorite photos of her, with Jayne Mansfield.

If I was sitting in the same spot as Sophia, I'd have that look on my face too... all night long.

Bob, you have a lot of time on your hands. Get out in the shop and work on something.

O.K, let me scare everyone away from this bumper guard. The picture I posted makes the bumper look better than it is. It has chrome missing in some places and the back is very rusty. Thanks for all the help... I have always wondered what that bumper guard fit. I knew it was not for my 47...I'll try to post pic's

Still looks nicer than the one I have but they all cost the same to rechrome. I got mine for free from a fellow FTE member a few year ago. I wish chroming didn't cost so much, I thinking about blasting it and painting it a color that will look good with the nice stainless grill trim I have for my panel.

I just checked my 53 accessories folder and they called this a light duty grille guard. It is part #8C-18419. They say it fits F-100, 250, and 350 with no holes to drill. They also have the heavy duty grille guard which we have all seen which is the heavy steel guard that is supported by two arms that go through the lower valence to the frame. My 1954 accessories book does not show the light duty grille guard, however...

You bet

A cheaper alternative to re-chroming it would be powder coating, while it wont sparkle like chrome it's closer than paint and cheaper than chrome.

Hopefully the lucky member who got it will use it rather than hoarding it away.
