There is no adjustment on the hydraulic clutches. If it's leaking, it needs to be replaced. Next time buy a motorcraft instead of the cheap chinese junk you used the last time.

sounds like you didnt get it bled out fully. These things can be a PAIN to get fully bled. And yes, Timkin makes high quality parts, no cheap chinese junk there.

I'm not saying there's anything wrong with Timken but for this part I would go nowhere but Ford. The original part lasted how many years? Why would you want a different brand?

No, it would not--UNLESS, (possibly?) it's leaking fluid onto the friction disc.... But no, in and of itself, a leaking slave cylinder will NOT cause the clutch to slip, because the slave DISENGAGES the clutch. When the slave fails, it fails to disengage the clutch, i.e., it FAILS to make it slip.

What if the slave sort-of fails to disengage the clutch? It could slip more. Besides, brake fluid will cause a clutch to slip and it's very common for fluid to get on the disc when a concentric slave fails.

Andy,

Please see the bolded line in my quote, below, taken from my response, immediately above your last post. IOW, I already acknowledged the possibility that brake fluid is making the OP's clutch slip.

However, this line of yours, below, is not comprehensible to me:

How, specifically, can a slave cylinder that "sort-of fails to disengage the clutch" cause it to "slip more"? If it FAILS to disengage, the clutch remains ENGAGED. The pressure plate springs cause it to engage naturally, in the absence of the slave cylinder's action to DISengage it. Therefore:

No slave cylinder action = no disengagement.

Partial slave cylinder action = partial disengagement, UNTIL the clutch pedal is released, then full engagement returns, due to the pressure plate springs.

So how does a slave cylinder that "sort-of fails to disengage the clutch" cause it to "slip more"?

Good job on that. Didn't mean to step on your toes.

You're right, I was not thinking clearly when I posted that. Now please calm down.
