I have a 223 with a holley 1 barrell carb. I have an oil bath filter that sits on it but I am missing whatever holds it on. I guess its some sort of clamp? Does anyone have a picture or know where I can get one?
Luke, it should have a mormon clamp with a long handle for loosening and tightening. The clamp is spot welded to the neck of the air breather. My '50 226 is almost the same except mine has a bracket that attaches to the head. I don't know of anyone who reproduces either the clamp or the breather. Watch e-bay and they are on there pretty often. I don't know if the 223 for the car or the truck are different but make sure it will fit your carb.
My oil cup dosent have any marks where a clamp might have been welded. Its in nice shape and I would like to use it. I just need to find a v clamp or marmon clamp that will fit I guess. Any other suggestions on where to find something like that?
Luke
The clamp is not available after market. I needed one for my 54 223. Bought it on ebay for too much ($25) but I needed it. Try a local junk yard. Also watch for poor condition. They were often over torqued and bent up. Good luck.
