This goes along with the oil filter thread but pertains to air filters. I had been using Hastings-Baldwin air filters in my V10. I have checked it several times and was never satified with how it seated in the housing. When I opened the housing up, the filter would be bent and not sealing very good. I picked up a Carquest air fitler for it the other day. That one fit the housing a lot better. It would hold itself up while I put the other half on. I just hoped my engine hasn't ingested too much dirt.
And me, I got a Fram Air-Hog. I got it very cheap, so don't hate me
And, it's quite strong, fit great, and hasn't degraded in performance over time like the stock paper filters.
I swear, I can tell the difference between a brand-new paper filter and the same filter after the first 3-4K miles.
Around here on Long Island, we get a lot of diesel particulate, and anywhere I travel I'm on the highways. All my paper filters get black pretty quick.
