Scangauge II and 1999 7.3L

I have a Scangauge II that I used with my F150 before I traded it in on my F350, I haven't been able to get it to read the tranny temps on my F350. Does anyone have this working ?

I'm also wondering what some of the best readouts to have showing would be. I'm new to diesels so I have no clue. I wanted to shows trans temp/water temp/batt voltage/EGR duty cycle.

I don't believe it will show oil pressure or oil temp.

It probably isn't programmed to work with a diesel... you'll have to send it back and get it re-tweaked, or sell it and buy a new one.

It's the newest version, with X-Gauge.

Still, if it wasn't ordered for a diesel it won't work. These trucks aren't OBD2 complaint and you have to have the "Ford Enhanced" scanning software to read codes from a PSD.

I think you have a different gauge in mind. I have hooked up my Scangauge II to my buddy's 04 PSD and it read everything just fine. You have to enter a code for it to read the trans temps on a 6.0L, but it works. They don't make these, nor can you order them specifically for a diesel.

I wasn't sure if there were different versions... and I finally took the time to re-read your post
There is no trans oil temp sensor on your truck, which is why most of us buy an aftermarket trans temp gauge. The 02-03's got a factory trans temp "gauge" but it's a glorified dummy light and not reliable.

Your gauge won't be of much use then.

Tranny temp = No
Water temp = No, but you might be able to read engine oil temp
Batt Voltage = Should be able to do this one
EGR duty cycle = No such thing on a 7.3. We don't have an EGR. The 6.0 was the first one to get that.

Go to the online site and it'll show you what to do to recalibrate/update your scan gauge to show Horsepower, Torque etc. And yeah, just plug it in and go thru the details to set it up for you Engine type, size of Tank, and a couple of other details so that it'll read true. It won't read Ex temps either, but agian it can be updated to read other perameters too. It helps me to get the most out every tank of fuel as well. They work great!

Anyone Succesfull? Xgauge TFT on 1999?

Been trying to get trans temp working on a 99 but no go. Scangauge tech folks suggested incrementing the 4th MSB of TXD from 1 up through F. i.e. from C410F1221674 to C411F1221674... and so on. No go. I read posts where folks with 2000-2003 7.3s have TFT working. My Genisys scanner reads trans temp so vehicle has sensor. Anyone have TFT working on 1999 7.3L?

BTW - no success with CHT listed in Xgauge Enhanced Data Ford PWM codes either. Good news - EOT DOES work from the Ford 7.3L Diesel list.

I have the scangaugeII running on my 2000, and I am very pleased.

Here is the link to Ford 7.3 specific codes to enter. Look on the bottom of the fourth page:
http://www.scangauge.com/support/pdfs/XGAUGE.pdf

I have entered in several of these and they do work. The tranny temp seams to run about 10 degrees high then my Isspro gauge dose.

Apologies for resurrecting this thread from the dead again, but I am confused if the scangauge will read trans temps from a 2000 F250 XL or not. There is not a trans temp gauge on the OEM cluster which would make me think that there would not be a sender unit. But some on this thread some to think that scangauge should work for the older 7.3 turbos. Can somebody clarify?

So then my 2000 F250 does have a trans temp sending unit and just not the OEM gauge, or does the scangauge somehow read trans temp differently?
