Hood Tilt Kit from CPP
Man,
That kit was very easy to install....I purchased the raw material one because I am going to paint it primer black to go with the hood...Now i can cruise at 80mph without thinking about my hood flying open on the highway....next project - power windows, power door locks, electric fan, ac/heat/defrost system...
After all that the ultimate - AIR RIDE SYSTEM once the truck is mechanically sound tight!!!

I extended the hook on the current safety release but it is too flimsy since it only uses the flange of the hood as the safety stop. The incoming air under such a large surface area at high speed can easily release the safety latch.
I am currently using a locked internal cable until I get around to installing the BMW style reverse/hood mechanism.

That's what happened to me with my current '56 Big Window. I was going down a hill at night and increased the speed to about 60mph to approach an upcoming hill when the hood flew open. I was driving blind and the hood smashed the windshield with the ends of the hood. Luckily, no one was coming and no damage to the hood but I had to buy/install a new windshield.

wow...that is why i didnt take the act of driving really fast....i kept the speed just under 60mph but the hood would start to vibrate under my eyes...a couple of times the hood popped up on the drivers side by the cowl but that was too much for me....NOW - i haul A$$ like a madman to work doing about 80-90 on the highway....a little vibration in the front which means alignment but other than that...she's SOLID!!!!
