i went out and looked and found a green cap on the end that says EVAP on it. that runs behind that cylinder that is attached to the firewall with 2 little bolts. i suppose i have to take them 2 bolts out to get that cylinder away from the firewall so i can see what i'm doing so i can see if the hose is bad or whats going on.

 

Just disconnect the hose from the EVAP and plug it (temporarilly) to see if that cures the noise problem.The hose runs from the underside of the intake manifold near the throttle body, If your hose is anything like mine was it will be very pourous and deteriorated and leave black residue on your hands.

i took that off the firewall. there is a hose coming from across the engine and into the cylinder that says gas/fuel and there is a hose that comes from somewhere below/behind the cylinder. i'm guessing its the one coming from behind/below the cylinder and yes it is very dirty. so i should just disconnect that and plug it with something and see if that stops the noise?

 

what should i plug it with?

 

had a guy look it over and he said the noise is coming from the torque converter at the transmission. he says it low in transmission fluid. does that make better sense?

 

What did you find out about the squeel?

 

still checking but a friend of mine looked at it and said it was coming from the torque converter in the transmission so that is all i know. any suggestions?

 

You indicated that the sound continues for a short time after the truck has been shut off, If this is the case then I would be doubtful about the torque converter unless it is a very short(less than 1 second)amount of time, Try using a mechanics stethoscope to see if you can locate the sound, Also if you suspect low trans fluid levels check and add fluid as necessary and see if that eliminates sound.
