P2420 code

This morn., my truck initiated a regen just before I got off the exit ramp. I drove approx. 1 mile toward the next stop light when suddenly the truck felt like it was running on 2 cyls. and the CEL was flashing. Never saw this before. I was able to shut it down, hook up my scan tool, clear the code, then drive again until the regen finished. No issue yet. I know that the code means " Evaporative Emission System Switching Valve Control Circuit High", but what does it mean (in English)? Any techs out there

No such thing as a p2420 dtc in ford. There is however a p242d

Maybe it was a "D" & not a 0. I have a list of codes I got on-line. If I ever see it again, I'll confirm. Anything you can tell me about the symptoms I described?

Since you have Spartan, I would ask Mick about it. People have had problems with sensors in the exhaust when they handle them/move them. Hopefully it's not the EGR valve.

vloney mentioned a P242D. Means "Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor Circuit High Bank 1 Sensor 3"

Were you pushing it when the code set?

Crazy001- Not pushing it. Actually I was just about coasting. Just enouch throttle to maintain speed as I approached the stoplight (about 30mph). BTW ruschejj, my Spartan tunes are DPF on, not delete. I haven't touched them....yet.

I had an exhaust temp. sensor go bad on me a few months ago. It did not really drive as poorly as you describe, just a little funny feeling and was in near constant regen. I don't know which sensor it was, there are 3 or 4 of them. As Crazy001 points out, you should prob figure out which sensor that is and replace it.

I assumed you had taken out your sensors and re-installed them in another pipe since you have the MBRP "cool duals" in your sig. I don't know what that is so I thought it might be a whole new exhaust system. My bad...

ruschejj. Not a complete exhaust, just DPF back. I'm gunna try Mick1955 through the Spartan forum and see what he thinks. Truck is still running fine since the regen, so I'm hoping it was just a freak thing. I'm waiting for the Spartan 310hp tune to be released, then do the DPF delete. I can hardly wait!!

Oh yeah. BTW, my regens are every 700 miles since the AFE intake. Was every 200-250 before. That was almost 2 years ago.....

"freak things" don't simply happen. I guess I'd be hoping it just went away, too, but that rarely happens.

Something is not right with your truck. I'd strongly suggest revert it back to stock tuning for a few days and try to recreate the problem. If you can get it to do it again, DON'T clear the code and take it to the dealer and let them troubleshoot from there.

It should be under warranty, therefore it's not your problem.
