90 Sending Unit

Hi alll
I have a 90 F250 diesel and the front tank sending unit is bad. I have contacted Local Ford dealer and the sending unit from them is $336.00. WOW that is gonna hurt. I checked with RockAuto and they show a PS20 sending unit for about $36.00. According to Ford dealer that is for a gas motor truck and will not work on the diesel. My question is has anybody installed the PS20 sending unit on a diesel truck. Not sure why there would be a difference between a gas and a diesel.
Thanks

The diesel unit has two lines on it, one suction one return. The gasser unit has one if for a carb. engine. If the gasser unit is for an injected engine it would have a fuel pump on it.

Thanks for the reply. The PS20 is just the sending unit and float, it does not include the pickup tubes.
