1951 F-1 Drop Axle
I saw in front suspension part 1 reference to a drop axle and bump steer problems. I have a 51 F-1 and I want to get it lower. I installed reverse eye mono springs in the front and standard eye mono springs in the rear. However the rear is lower then the front. Therefore I was thinking of installing a drop axle as well. Does anyone out there have this combo and if so am I going down a bad path. I would prefer the drop axle because I can install that in my own shop. With a IFS it gets much more expensive and difficult which I can not preform in my shop. Any advice will be appreciated.

Hi, I just installed a 3" drop axle from cpp.com . I also pulled a couple of leafs out the front leafs to get a little more drop and ended up with 5 1/2" drop. I wanted more because I dropped the rear 8" by swapping the springs from over the axle to under the axle. The only thing I have to do is get some drop tie rod ends to compensate, the tie rod now hits the front springs. CCP suggested that I use a solid tie rod bar also. Good luck.
