How rough of a ride is the reverse eye mono set up? I'm not going to take my truck any where far nor will it be a daily driver. Just a toy to hit local car shows and play around on the weekends. Eventually looking to bag the truck. Just want to drop it about 4 inches or so this year. Got a lot of other things to buy for now....
The fronts will wrap as well as the rear when a large bump like a pothole or RR track is hit and under heavy braking. It's most often the fronts that people who try them are unhappy with.
Yeah I'm going to go with short and smooth kit from mid 50 I'm thinking. Might do drop axle in the front too? Not sure about if I'll need it or not? Like to get 4-5" Of drop total front and rear.
I'd wait on the dropped axle to see how it comes out without it, then if you want it lower you can decide how much and send it to Sid to have him drop it. All you loose is some time swapping out the axle and waiting for it to come back from dropping. Sid is pretty quick/reasonable and does it right. I'd avoid the round tube assembled dropped axle.

I would recommend getting the down and forward springs if you get them from mid Fifty. It's the same spring pack that you mentioned but centers the wheel in the fender (Then you have to get a longer drag link from mid fifty too). And with the drop axle you will need tie rod drops. Of course there's a bunch of other little things you will need. I found it easier to get the kit from mid fifty. Not super cheap, but easier and good for a guy like me who has does not weld and is not a fabricator.
That's what I used along with a drop axle from Sid. Keep in mind that I don't have an engine in my truck yet.
So the the down and forward and drag link would do my truck? Might not do the drop axle just yet? It's 8 week delay. Yours sits very nice. Wonder with the motor in if you'll have to drop your rear some more??

Yeah, unless you are replacing worn out parts, the springs and longer drag link should be the only new parts you need. Just make sure the axle doesn't interfere with the engine if you move it forward a tiny bit.
And I agree...I'm a little worried that it won't sit right after the engine is in...but hopefully it doesn't drop it too much. If it does, I guess I'll just have to figure something out!
I only saw the "Mean and Forward" kit which is lower than the "Short and Smooth" I"ll have to look into it further? You sure yours is Short and Smooth? I'll double check on that? Maybe I missed it?

I think maybe this is the confusion...they provide a "Short and Smooth Reverse Eye" and a "Short and Smooth Stock Eye." I believe the "Down and Forward" are the same (quoted 3" drop) as the "Short and Smooth Reverse Eye" but have the spring pin moved forward to center the wheel.
Does that make sense?
I was looking at their website, and I see what you mean, they don't seem to offer the "Down and Forward" springs as a stand alone product anymore? They used to. I bet you could call them and order just the springs.
Most, if not all, of Mid Fifty's springs are from Eaton Detroit Springs.
