2001 7.3 4x4 160K miles, Hypertech power prog III. Service engine soon light came on. Runs rough like it "dropped" a cylinder. P0603 pcm keep alive memory KAM error and P1316 injector drive mod codes detected, were found with an Actron reader. Codes were cleared, Truck seemed to run OK about 3 miles, warmed up. Service light came back on and rough running came back. Roughness is felt worst in over drive with low revs and load. Letting eng rev a bit is not so bad but roughness still there. I unloaded the Hypertech, changed oil and filter, fuel filter, air filter since roughnes happened. Air filter was very dirty.

 

Sounds like a loose UVCH connector. Each bank can be ohmed out to narrow it down to one side or the other.

Use the procedure below to check each 9 pin connector located on the outside of the valley side of each valve cover.
Just push down on the clip and the connector will pull off revealing the 9 pins that pass through the valve cover gasket.
There is another connector under the valve cover that may be loose.

The P0603 code is nothing to worry about. This code is set when batteries are disconnected.
